Karen de Nevers-Eventeur



Karen de Nevers, Owner and Creative Director for de Nevers Events, has been actively working in the hospitality and special events industry for over 15 years. She has a background in restaurant management, catering and event coordination.
She has said "I consider it an honour to attend and be involved in the most memorable days in people's lives. The milestone events such as weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and corporate celebrations are momentous. I am thrilled to be a part of these remarkable days-and through my past experiences, I am happy to help guide others in seeing the possibilities for their own unique celebrations.."

Second Weddings


Today, there are no right or wrong ways to plan and celebrate a second wedding.
As an encore bride and/or groom, consider your preferences as a couple, as well as individuals and personalities while also considering family members, family customs, religious beliefs, and life situations when planning your big day. The key is trying to make the day itself work for yourselves. Make the second trip down the aisle as large and elegant, or as small and simple as you like. It is important that you feel comfortable. If children are happy about the marriage, be sure to include them in the event.
Encore brides can choose the wardrobe and flowers of her choice today. The event can be as formal as you please regarding everyone from your children, attendants and guests.
Encore brides can be given away by a father, mother, children or even a friend. You might also consider writing your own vows that focus on "the love that will define your future together as you share laughter, tears, hopes and dreams..."
Remember that times have changed and so have the "rules" of what is considered acceptable when getting married for a second time. While some couples choose to still elope or celebrate with a small party, others opt for a more elaborate reception. It is up to you.

Creating Event Ambience

  • Use candles for instant ambience at your wedding, birthday party or family celebration. They set the perfect party mood and create a flattering light. Karen de Nevers, Eventeur recommends scattering votives on windowsills, stairways, shelves, and on the ground for outdoor parties.
  • Prepare in advance for your event. Make your beverages and cocktails beforehand and limit your appetizers to food that can be served cold or at room temperature.
  • Involve everyone. Let your guests know you are thrilled that they are present. Give them tasks like starting the dancing, introducing people or passing a tray or wine bottle.
  • Get creative with your decorations. de Nevers Events has many ways to dress up your party with unique and trendy ideas. Create a "beach feel" by filling glass bowls (very inexpensive to rent!) with seashells and sand dollars. Fill the same bowl with a pillar candle and sand or with a floating flower in water.
